Collaborative project – architecture and dance – with choreographer Hélène Blackburn at the Jean-Pierre Perreault Foundation. The project explores the spatial and temporal dimensions of choreographic presentation and representation.
A performative device was developed during a 5-day residency. A grid drawn on the floor defines the performance area [the field] and the off-stage zone [the off-field]. Suspended from the ceiling, two cameras capture the dancers evolving within the field in real time. Two projectors broadcast the captured images, live or delayed, onto a large screen positioned at the back of the stage. The traditional frontal presentation of the choreography unfolds simultaneously with its representation in plan.
